New Golf Cart Wheel Collection with 15″ Versions

As the New Year approached we were taking stock (both literally and figuratively) and doing a lot of thinking about the coming year.  And at the same time we were busy planning the final details of an upgraded cart to show in our ads and social media.  It was while ordering up the parts to build out the cart that we got side tracked with wheels.  

Lifted carts tend to get fitted with 14″ rims and more often than not with off road style tires.  But we had seen bigger wheels on carts.  And wanting to show off our lights as much as possible, we decided in typical fashion that bigger might be better.

We first toyed with the idea of 17 inch or even 18 inch wheel.  Our demo cart(s) have pretty standard lifts and off road style tires on them measuring 23″ tall.  Some quick checking verified that a 17 or 18 wheel with a low profile tire would fill the same space (just over 23″), but more wheel less tire, and we like the idea of that.  That is, until we started looking at the cost.  Those sizes basically meant wheels meant for carts or trucks.  And while there are plenty of them, they can be pricey.   And the lug pattern is likely to be wrong for a golf cart requiring a wheel adapter lug converter.  We had a fair look, but finding the right look, diameter was tricky and by the time we added tires and converters we found ourselves looking at a lot of cost per wheel (easily in excess of $700 per wheel for anything in chrome).

Then we remembered seeing a few 15 inch wheels here and there marketed for golf carts.  No need for lug pattern converters and a generally lower cost.  Not many options though.

Frustrated, we started asking around with contacts we have dealt with our met over time.  And after a couple weeks of asking around we found a manufacturer with some great options that we hadn’t seen before and over a dozen models available in 15 inch diameter.  As soon as we laid eyes on our first sample set, we were elated.  15 inch diameter, standard golf cart bolt pattern so no modification needed.  Polished chrome.  Beautiful.  

Determined to change it from the off road tire look too, we sourced a perfectly matched medium profile street tire to fit the 15 inch rim and still fill roughly the same 23 inch space.  That insured that the appearance would still be similar in proportion and not require additional lifting of the cart or modification for clearance.  We couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

We’re so pleased in fact, that we’ve picked a half dozen models to add to our brand and make available.  Some can be ordered in 12 inch and 14 inch versions, others have alternate color/finish options, but all are available in 15 inch and all are available in polished chrome.  Look for our demo carts to sport some of these new combos in the next week or two.
