We often get asked, “How do you wire one of the 5-pin rocker switches?” While there can be some variations according to how you want the backlights to function (primarily), the most typical wiring for this type of switch looks like this:
The two ground terminals are jumped together and connected to ground. The two power inputs are also jumped together and connected to a 12v feed. The final wire (#3 above) is routed to the light or accessory the switch will control.
There are other variations, (where the switch identification (top) light illuminates when the headlights are switched on, for example), depending on your preference for when the top and bottom buttons will illuminate.
