Description
We’ve identified and bundled up roof channel obstruction hardware in neat little package to get those pesky roof support (or accessory) bolts out of the way.
Many popular carts have accessory channels that provide a potentially great place to install LED roof lights. Some have completely unobstructed channels all the way around. For these strips can either be mounted directly or for a completely concealed installation, we provide a number of different flexible silicone diffuser extrusions that fit right into the channels (both downward facing channels and inward facing channels), making the strips and the presence of roof lights invisible until turned on.
Other models’ channels however (particularly inward facing channels) can present a bigger challenge by sometimes having places where bolts connect all the way through the channel obstructing a clear straight run of LEDs along the entire periphery of the roof using the channel for that purpose. For instance it is common for roof supports to be bolted through inward facing channels in this way. One of the questions we’re frequently asked is how best to work around this on these models (or even more often how did we do one of our installs where the roof lights travel perfectly straight all the way around and can’t be seen until turned on). We’ve seen countless installs where an installer simply routes the strip temporarily out of the channel and over/under/around the obstructed section and then back into the channel again. But we have always recommended installs where the lights and wires are as integrated and undetectable as possible… that is, until they are switched on.
We have come up with a few solutions for this over the years but the one that is by far the easiest and works over 90% of the time is simply to re-work the attachment points obstructing the channel with different (better) hardware. If you’ve asked how to deal with this and been directed to the “Obstruction Hardware” kit, you’re in the right place.
The standard kit contains (4) flat oblong head bolts with with washers, lock washers and cap nuts as well as (4) black plastic caps to hide the outer holes that will be exposed after installation. There are four of everything in the standard kit because most carts that attach roof supports through an inward facing channel, do so with two bolt going straight through the middle of the channel on each side. We can however make up custom kits if there are more bolts in need of being re-located but do not recommend any roof light installation across the forward facing side of a roof as the lights could impair visibility.
